September sheep bag update – important information

Hello everyone and I hope you all had a lovely summer / winter depending on where you are in the world!

My summer was very family oriented which was lovely and we spent our usual two weeks in our tent in the south west of France. These are without doubt the happiest two weeks of our family year and we are already looking forward to next year’s trip.

However it is also a happy feeling to be heading into autumn again with the promise of snuggling under blankets in the evenings, crisp weekend walks, the beautiful colours of nature and a certain someone’s birthday not too far away! Like many knitters, I love autumn. I also love spring and summer. I do not like winter!

As autumn settles in I have started work on a fun collaboration with a yarn dyer who I am very proud to be working with. More on that soon!

And so to the main reason for this post. The summer saw a huge interest in my large sheep project bags. I have already released a few of these into the world as many of you know, but the response from the pictures I have shown on my Instagram feed and the publicity they have had on some lovely knitters’ podcasts has been absolutely overwhelming. So many of you are interested in owning one of the bags and I can’t thank you all enough. It has however caused a bit of a headache (don’t get me wrong, it’s a lovely one and there are no complaints from me at all) as I try to work out how I can satisfy the demand with the limited sewing time I have.

I have run through many alternatives as to how I might best deal with the demand / supply issue. And I have finally come up with a plan – one which I hope will allow me to meet your sheep bag wishes but also to enable me to carry on stocking the Etsy shop with new bags, which is important to me.

So this is the plan…

From Friday 15th September I will be starting a waiting list system for the bags.

Once the waiting list opens and if you are interested in owning an Eldenwood Craft Sheep Bag you will need to send me an email with the subject heading ‘sheep bag waiting list’ letting me know which of the bag styles from the options below you are interested in (this doesn’t commit you to that bag but just gives me an indication as to what supplies I’m going to need to have in the sewing room!).

I will announce on this website on 15th September when the waiting list is open and what email address to use (to be automatically notified of the update news you can sign up here on the website to be notified of new post notifications) and only emails received from that point onwards will be accepted.

The bag styles being offered are:

a. Zipper £45

b. Drawstring £45

c. Relaxed drawstring £40 (like the normal drawstring but without interfacing)

d. Relaxed zipper £40 (like the normal zipper but without interfacing)

Sizing – all bags are approximately 17″ x  14″ x 7″

Postage will also be charged in line with my usual Etsy shipping policies.

You can see examples of the bags in the sold pages of my Etsy shop.

Please be aware of the following:

1. The order in which I make the bags will be strictly in the order of email receipt.

2. Your email is an expression of interest only. It does not form a contract between us and it does not guarantee that you will receive a bag.

3. My ability to make a bag is partly dependent on my ability to access the necessary fabrics. If I am unable to meet your request I will let you know by email.

4. Importantly I cannot guarantee any specific timeframe within which your bag will be made, hence I am not requesting any up front payment from you. Supply time very much depends on the level of interest received but also on the time I have to make bags. I will however reply to your initial email and let you know your position in the waiting list.

5. Prior to making your bag I will contact you by email to reconfirm your interest. Once I receive your confirmation I will add a reserved listing to my Etsy shop and upon receipt of payment your bag will be made and shipped. The Etsy listing will give an indication of postage times.

6. The waiting list will not remain open indefinitely and I will post a message on the website prior to its closure. However if it works well then this is a system I will possibly return to in the future.

I very much hope this works and will see as many of you as possible the happy owners of an Eldenwood Craft Sheep Bag. If you have any questions please do leave a comment below or use the Contact form here on the website.

Finally, thank you for your continued support of my Eldenwood Craft adventure. Crafters truly are the best of people and it is a joy to be part of your community .

Right, back to the sewing room, there’s a lot to do!

Emma xx

  7. I’m not sure how the notification sign-up works–do I just leave a comment here and tick the box? Hoping this works!

    1. Hi, on the website there is a box that you can add your email address to if you want to sign up for news updates – that’s what you’re looking for. Hope that helps. Emma

  8. Hi Emma
I’ve been searching your Etsy shop but couldn’t find anything about postage. Where can I see (roughly) how much the shiping cost for a bag would be? Living way up north in Iceland shiping cost is always a big part of ordering online so…. 😀

    1. Hello Asta

Shipping is dependent on size and weight. I don’t have a bag to weigh at the moment but would estimate that to Iceland shipping will be between £7 and £9.

I can give you a more accurate price when I have a bag ready to shop if that would help.

      Thank you
      Emma

    2. Thanks for the quick response, these shipping fees are close enough so no worries on weighing a bag for a more accurate price 😀

  9. I did not see the email address that we are to use. Is it a special one or just your regular email?

    1. Hi, yes the regular email address. The latest post has the updated information.
      Emma
