As summer leads us by the hand towards autumn I thought I would briefly share what has come off my needles in recent weeks. I have been surrounded by project bags stuffed with half finished wips for a few months so I promised myself this summer I would do my best to get some of them finished.
And I succeeded.
Two pairs of socks and a shawl have been cast off in the last few weeks.
First up are the I Heart Bees socks by the very lovely knitter, designer and podcaster Nessa Townsley. Knit using Coop Knits Socks Yeah yarn in the Sphene colourway.
Then another pair of socks, vanilla socks this time, but I had wanted to try out the Goomy 50 range from Bergere de France as some of the colourways appealed. As you can see these were finished off of our summer camping holiday and were accompanied by some lovely local rosé. The contrasting cuffs, heels and toes were knit using West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 ply (Cardamom).
And then the final project off the needles was my Pebble Beach Shawl by Helen Stewart of the Curious Handmade podcast. This is technically finished but needs a blocking before it can be worn so I’ve added some ‘in progress’ shots to give a flavour of the textures and beautiful yarn used (Madelinetosh Prairie in the Calligraphy colourway).
I have a number of finished shawls that need blocking before they can be introduced into the world, and really must make that a priority over the next few weeks as they will be needed sooner than we think.
Of course there are still more unfinished projects that really should get some attention, and some brand new wips that always seem to steal my attention, but that is the happy life of a knitter, much to the perplexion of my family!
Until next time, when there will be news of a shop update.
