Early December Update

Early December Update

Hello. There are two things I need to let you know about today in this brief post. Firstly I have a new podcast episode up on YouTube for. Episode 12 features some finished objects, works in progress and a little bit of Etsy shop news. […]

More shop news

More shop news

Hello! I had a small shop update this week. It was snuck in unannounced and sold out very quickly. Thank you all so much. This was a slightly different update in that I was offering a pre-order mix-and-match sock sized bag, allowing a choice of […]

March shop news (part 1)

March shop news (part 1)

Hello! It’s spring time (just) here in the U.K. and this always lifts my soul. We’re out of the dark days of winter.  The mornings are a bit lighter and the birds are singing in the trees again.

The shift into spring brings a renewed energy and I have spent a long time this week thinking about my Etsy shop.

My greatest struggle with it is keeping it stocked. You may be all too well aware of this! I do not like one little bit that, with the exception of the flurry of activity around update time, it is forever empty.  Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love that you love what I make and I am thrilled with every new sale and every new connection that brings with one of you. I couldn’t be happier about that! But I would like more of you to be able to own a little piece of Eldenwood Craft.

So I have been thinking about how to overcome this. I could give up my full-time job (wishes, one day maybe!), I could cut corners to speed up the process (no, no, absolutely no way). Or I could stop custom orders. And it is this latter option that I keep coming back to. I don’t want to do this as I really enjoy the process of a custom order and the conversation with the customer that goes along with it, but it seems the sensible option for the short-term. So until further notice, I will not be taking any new custom orders. Those of you that I have been in conversation with in recent weeks fear not – your orders are coming along nicely and I will be in touch to let you know soon that your bags are ready.

The up side of this is, of course, a shop that will have more stock, more regularly, and so I hope that those of you who are looking will find something you like.I will monitor this and see what difference the change makes. I hope it is a positive one.

You will have noticed that this post has a ‘part 1’ in its title. Look out for more shop news (an update) coming later this month.

Happy crafting.

In search of lost time

In search of lost time

So it’s taken much longer than expected to get this second post in the Eldewood Craft blog onto screen.  I can’t quite believe where the time has gone since last writing. OK we’ve had the Easter break which was very exciting for us (more in […]
